What it isn't
- It doesn't guarantee that any airline will let your animal fly in the cabin.
- It doesn't waive pet fees on U.S. airlines.
- It doesn't make your pet a service animal.
- It isn't a substitute for the DOT service animal forms.
Psychiatric service dogs
Trained psychiatric service dogs remain protected under the Air Carrier Access Act. U.S. airlines may require only the U.S. Department of Transportation's service animal forms (the Service Animal Air Transportation Form, plus the Relief Attestation Form for flights of 8 hours or longer); see the DOT's service animal page. A letter from a mental health professional is not one of them.
